For a well known client operating in Europe, we are currently looking for a Contract Management Director on a permanent position.

Role description

To strengthen the Project Management team, our client is looking for an experienced professional to lead the Contract Management function, contributing significantly to the success of the whole project team. The project is a green field nuclear power plant project. It is one of the biggest industrial investments in Europe. It will be built in close co-operation with a major international corporation, who will deliver the project on EPC basis.

The main mission for the Contract Management Director is to strongly contribute to successful project execution, including both strategic and daily management of the plant supply EPC contract.

Accordingly, the key KPI’s for the role will be set to be in alignment with the overall project team: the main focus will be on meeting the project targets and keeping the risks and predictability of the project in full control at all times. The role is a senior project management position in which she/he is expected to take a strong and visible leader role within the client’s project management team.

Responsibilities

In more detail, the responsibilities for the position could be summarized in following:

EPC Contract and claims management

  • Development and implementation of contract management strategy and effective contract management processes
  • Management of contract risks and claims in co-operation with our legal team
  • Management of EPC contract, compliance with contract terms & conditions, and contract variations
  • Milestone payment schedule of the EPC contract together with the project management office
  • Official correspondence with the EPC supplier in co-operation with legal department
  • Providing contract management support for Owner’s Scope contracts

In executing the above tasks the Contract Management Director works in very close co-operation with different units within the organization, especially with Project Director, Other Department Directors, Legal, Project Management Office, as well as externally with the main contractor project management. She/he reports to the Project Director.

The position is located at the client’s headquarters, however, the location in the Plant construction site will be necessary later as the project proceeds (around 2023-2024).

The role requires reasonable travelling, estimated at 40 – 60 days annually.

Essential skills

The role is a senior position which requires a highly credible, determined, accurate and cooperative leader with strong own initiative, and a solid experience in leading similar functions, preferably in nuclear industry. Experience in working with large scale EPC projects in industrial environment is a prerequisite. Also personal project management experience is considered an asset for the position.

 

To succeed in the role, the person needs a good balance of strategic clarity and ability to see the essential, and on the other hand a strong, effective and accurate hands-on execution capabilities to analyze, orchestrate and produce such actions and documents that are necessary and beneficial for the success of the project.

 

The person needs to demonstrate strong leader-characteristics and collaboration skills with strong trust-creation capabilities, have excellent coordination skills, and also have good communications and negotiation skills. Experience and strong motivation for leading the team is important.

The person must have excellent oral and written language skills in English, good overall understanding of all key aspects of a large size investment project. She/he has a relevant academic degree.

Most importantly the person needs to have genuine drive and desire to make success within the client’s organization.

Rate/Salary

The packaged offer will include a very competitive base salary and a performance bonus.

The final salary will be agreed based upon the candidate’s experience.

A relocation package will be offered if the selected candidate is coming from overseas.
