Role description

Are you experienced in safety case development and designs? Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) is looking for Safety Systems Engineers to join their growing organisation.

Responsibilities

Your key duties will include

  • Developing the allocated safety report sections and associated documentation in compliance with due process, seeking guidance from the Safety Case Officer where necessary.
  • Assisting the ALARP optioneering and assessment to resolve challenging areas of the safety case in conjunction with other members of the team and the wider Technical Directorate.
  • To manage technical work provided by the supply chain and to act as Intelligent Customer accordingly (within limits of SQEPness). From the IC review, provide recommendations to the Case Officer as to the limits of application to the safety case.
  • Following the procedures involved in safety report production including appreciation of the features and behaviours needed for a high reliability process.
  • Developing the strategy for each section, reaching agreement with the Case Officer and communicating to the wider safety case team
  • Developing the technical content consistent with the Safety Case manual and assist in the specification of supporting evidence in these areas.

Essential skills

You will have an in depth understanding of the role with previous Safety Case experience as author and verifier as well as the process needed to develop a report that is user focused.

You will be a subject matter expert, in the development of the safety case as well as represent RWM as an intelligent customer.

A thorough understanding of the UK Regulatory framework is also required.

Rate/Salary

This is a permanent position within a governmental organisation. (package includes bonus and generous pension scheme)
