Role description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Safety Case Manager to join RWM in the development and production of their environmental safety case. Using your communication skills, you will be responsible for developing claims, arguments and gathering evidence to support the safety case.


As a Senior Environmental Safety Case Manager, you will:

  • Develop strategies and approaches for demonstrating compliance with appropriate regulations.
  • Understand and communicate the output of total system models of the disposal system.
  • Provide input to site specific evaluations of environmental safety.
  • Create generic and site-specific environmental safety reports.
  • Review and challenge of work undertaken by suppliers to ensure appropriate quality, is checked and verified and meets the needs of the safety case.
  • Check and approve post-closure disposability assessments produced in support of the Letter of Compliance Process.
  • Responsible for working with internal stakeholders across the business to communicate the outputs and needs of the safety case.
  • Act as a senior representative at national and international fora and events (including involvement with EC projects and international organisations such as the IAEA and NEA.

Essential skills

To be successful in this role you will understand the nuclear regulatory requirements for environmental safety cases. You will be knowledgeable of higher activity radioactive wastes, waste packaging products, and be a recognised expert in the scientific basis for radioactive waste disposal.
