The Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Safety Case Specialist to join their team.
With exciting new projects such as launching the largest construction project they have yet undertaken this a perfect time to join the business and play a key role in supporting the Environmental Safety Case Team.
The role of the ESC Specialist is to work as part of the Environmental Safety Case team to develop, maintain and implement the Environmental Safety Case. The ESC team deliver a multidisciplinary work programme to ensure the safety of radioactive waste at the UK’s principal Low Level Waste disposal facility. The team are responsible for the demonstration and communication of this to the Environment Agency and wider stakeholder groups. The team also interacts and engages with the wider LLWR organisation to ensure that operations and developments on the site are undertaken in accordance with the assumptions in the ESC.

The Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) has a proud past, a busy present and an exciting future. LLWR have managed the UK’s low level radioactive waste for more than 60 years and are now ready to play their part as a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). In 2009, 95% of low level waste was disposed of at the Repository. Today that figure is below 5%. LLWR has led the way in securing effective solutions for lower activity waste management, diverting material away from the site by utilising a range of treatment and alternative disposal routes
LLWR has now launched the largest construction programme it has yet undertaken, the Repository Development Programme (RDP), to span 3 decades. Planning permission has been secured to allow the construction of a final cap over existing and new vaults and seven landfill-style trenches where waste was disposed of prior to the opening of the site’s first vault in 1988.Their top priority has always been safety – of their community, workforce and the environment – as reflected in their safety performance. LLWR will be offering a competitive basic salary depending on your experience, a pension contribution up to 13.5% as well as an annual bonus based upon company performance and a further individual performance related bonus dependent on the level of your role.
