For a first of a kind SMR project to be developed in Canada, we are currently looking for a System Engineering Lead. This is a permanent position to be based in Toronto, ON or Saint John, NB. The future team member will have to travel extensively to the headquarters in Saint John, NB.

Role description

As a System Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for Configuration Management and will ensure interfaces across the design are effectively managed. The position does not involve direct management in the first place but you may manage a team of system engineers in a near future.


  • Leads development of specifications and/or Interface Control Document (ICD) development
  • Recommends system design alterations and enhancements to improve quality of Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs) and/or procedures from an assembly, transportation, construction, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning considerations
  • Leads reviews and presentations for internal company design reviews and customer design reviews in regard to configurations and related structures, systems, and components
  • Develops R&D technical scope for SSCs improvements, optimization and cost reduction
  • Performs trade studies (optioneering studies)

Essential skills

  • We are currently recruiting applicants that are legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or other advanced degree(s) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Thermodynamics, Mechanical or Systems design, analysis, or test engineering discipline in a nuclear environment
  • Design engineering experience – analysis, development, research, testing, and/or Validation & Verification activities
  • 2 to 3 years as a lead engineer, providing direction to a team of junior designers, engineers, or analysts in the development of complex systems
  • Knowledge with advanced simulation, requirements and layout tools


Up to CA$125,000, depending on experience
