Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal Engineer to join their Risk-Informed Design and Licensing (RIDL) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to advanced nuclear reactor projects and play a key role in shaping the future of nuclear energy. You will be working directly with the NEI 18-04 methodology, a cornerstone for non-light water reactor (non-LWR) design and licensing, ensuring that our cutting-edge technologies meet the highest safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical leadership in the implementation of NEI 18-04 methodology, guiding the development and refinement of licensing strategies for non-LWR designs.
- Lead in-depth risk assessments and safety evaluations, applying advanced analysis techniques to ensure that all project activities align with the regulatory framework and safety requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate risk-informed insights into design decisions, helping optimize both safety and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the creation, review, and approval of licensing documents, ensuring all submissions are in full compliance with regulatory guidelines, while driving continuous improvement in our processes.
- Act as a primary technical liaison with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and stakeholders, providing insights and expert guidance during audits, reviews, and compliance evaluations.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory trends and developments, ensuring that our client’s risk-informed strategies remain at the forefront of industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including a strong background in risk analysis, regulatory compliance, and nuclear safety, with a particular emphasis on non-light water reactor technologies.
- Expertise in applying NEI 18-04 methodology for licensing and risk-informed design, with a proven ability to translate complex technical data into actionable insights for regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and safety evaluations, including experience with probabilistic risk assessments (PRA) and other advanced analysis techniques.
- Strong familiarity with NRC regulations, ASME codes, and nuclear safety standards, with a demonstrated ability to apply these standards to real-world project challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment, managing multiple projects and ensuring alignment across teams.
