We are supporting a major nuclear operator in the US on the development and delivery of advanced reactor technologies based at Columbia Generating Station in Richland, WA. This is a long-term onsite contract (1 year+) offering the opportunity to contribute directly to new nuclear projects, including design, licensing, and construction activities within a highly regulated environment.

The role focuses on delivering complex Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA/PRA) activities, supporting both existing operations and next-generation reactor programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex PSA/PRA analyses including hazard analysis, consequence evaluation, and defense-in-depth assessments
  • Support Owners Engineer activities across design, licensing, and construction phases of advanced reactor projects
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on new nuclear technologies and progressive design/build programmes
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements (NRC), as well as industry guidance (NEI, EPRI, ASME/ANS standards)
  • Develop and review PSA models, including initiating events, event sequences, and uncertainty/sensitivity analyses
  • Provide schedule inputs and support project planning activities
  • Identify design, operational, or quality issues and initiate corrective actions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers
  • Support development of procedures, programmes, and engineering policies aligned with strategic objectives

Requirements:

Engineer I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 1+ year of relevant experience

Engineer II:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant experience

Engineer III:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant experience

(PE license may be considered in lieu of degree requirements as per experience level)

Desired Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with PSA/PRA methodologies and standards (ASME/ANS RA-S-1.4)
  • Strong background in PRA model development, including initiating events, event sequences, and quantitative analysis
  • Knowledge of transient and accident analysis, including source term evaluation
  • Experience interpreting PSA results and applying them to engineering decisions
  • Familiarity with Seismic and Fire PRA
  • Exposure to advanced reactor technologies (e.g. HTGR or similar designs)
  • Experience supporting large-scale nuclear construction projects
  • Familiarity with NEI guidance (e.g. NEI 18-04)
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership on complex engineering challenges
