An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Project, one of the most significant projects in Europe.
Hinkley Point C is at the forefront of the UK’s low-carbon energy future, delivering the first new generation nuclear power station in the country. This role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of major contracts and work packages within a highly regulated, technically complex, and high-profile environment.
Reporting to the Delivery Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. You will ensure safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved while leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging with key stakeholders across the project.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of major contracts and work packages across the full project lifecycle.
- Define project scope, objectives, interfaces, and delivery strategy in alignment with programme requirements.
- Develop and implement effective execution plans in line with the Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
- Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of project activities while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and change control processes.
- Monitor performance against milestones and report progress to senior stakeholders.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to track project performance and forecast outcomes.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and secure the resources required to successfully deliver project objectives.
- Manage contractor, consultant, and supplier performance throughout project execution.
- Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled and support the resolution of commercial claims and negotiations.
- Drive continuous improvement, lessons learned, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including EDF teams in the UK and France.
- Support nuclear safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules and business requirements.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects within highly regulated industries, ideally nuclear, energy, infrastructure, defence, or major construction.
- Strong experience managing large-scale EPC/EPCM projects from concept through delivery and handover.
- Demonstrated expertise in engineering design management, construction delivery, procurement, and contract management.
- Experience managing cost, schedule, risk, change control, and performance reporting using project controls methodologies.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience managing contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners on major programmes.
- Knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contracts.
