As a Community Engagement Manager, you will have a key role within the Theddlethorpe Community Partnership. Your focus will be upon developing strong and trusted relationships with Community Partnership members and with local communities to enable people to engage with the GDF siting process. You will be the main conduit between NWS (Nuclear Waste Services) and community stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and lasting relationships.

You will:

  • Work collaboratively as part of the Community Partnership to develop and deliver effective strategy and approaches to local community engagement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships in the local community
  • Work with a wide range of local stakeholders including, for example local councils, business, education and voluntary sectors and regulators.
  • Manage a small team and resources to deliver community engagement using your knowledge of good community engagement practice

This is not a Monday to Friday, nine to five position. You’ll be travelling, attending meetings/events, delivering presentations and numerous activities in between. You’ll need to be resilient, diplomatic, and compassionate to effectively build trust in the local area.

Your qualifications are not the main focus. Instead, your interpersonal skills and understanding of community and social issues as well as the local political landscape are key.


This role will be a home working position supporting the Theddlethorpe Community Partnership so travel around the area is essential.

About NWS:

As of the 31 January 2022, Nuclear Waste Services has been set up to combine all of the NDA Waste activities, giving greater flexibility and driving improvements and synergies across the NDA Group. This brings together LLW Repository Limited, Radioactive Waste Management Limited and the NDA Integrated Waste Management Programme (each with their own IT teams, infrastructure, and systems).
