“The Radiological Assessment & Shielding Team is recruiting a Senior Consultant (shielding & criticality) to lead a variety of radiological assessment and design activities across Waste & Decommissioning projects. The team is central to the delivery of radiological assessments to underpin decommissioning design and waste packaging strategies across all sites, providing plenty of opportunity to be involved in a diverse and varied portfolio. The role will require the individual to be technically competent, solution orientated and be able understand, process and interpret a wide range of data.”
As the Senior Consultant Shielding & Criticality, you will lead a variety of radiological assessment and design activities across Waste & Decommissioning projects. Additionally, as Senior Consultant Shielding & Criticality you will:
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert in shielding and criticality and provide suitable advice and guidance
- Produce shielding / dose rate modelling assessments
- Represent the company in technical discussions with ONR and other regulators
- Provide technical expertise in radiological inventory assessment
- Identify shielding requirements and assessment methodologies to establish waste and decommissioning facility design and operations
- Contribute to the effective development and delivery of shielding and criticality training
Skills and Experience
- Degree in an Engineering, Science, or related discipline
- Knowledge of relevant regulations applicable to management, transport, and packaging of radioactive waste
- Leadership skills combined with comprehensive technical knowledge
- Chartered Engineer Status or equivalent
