“My team has a unique place in Magnox, as we are responsible for delivering the designs for compliant concrete disposal packages and demonstrating the packages meet their design requirements for their 500-year life.

This involves working closely with the site-based project teams filling the package with ILW, the disposability team who are responsible for ensuring the packages can go into the UK’s Geological Disposal Facility, and Magnox’s Radioactive Waste Transport Team, as these packages will need to meet IAEA IP-2 Transport Requirements.

I am looking for a creative engineer with a strong civil bias; with experience in design and design substantiation to be the Lead Engineer for package design and the civil specialist providing guidance to the concrete box manufacturer.“

Key Deliverables

• Provide guidance to the concrete box manufacturer
• Identify disposal package functional requirements and ensure these requirements are met
• Produce and approve project technical specifications
• Provide engineering solutions to complex problems
• Carry out technical assessment and approval of contractors work

Qualifications and Experience

• Civil Engineering qualification
• Experience overseeing concrete production and pouring
• Experience in design and design substantiation
