Our client seeks a visionary Head of Governance and Controls to drive strategic initiatives and shape their path to success. Reporting to the Group Business Development Director, you’ll establish robust governance frameworks and track program progress.

Location: Flexible, Stoke Poges or Capenhurst

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships within the Business Development function and across Urenco to deliver Governance and Control for all aspects of Business Development.
  • Lead end to end development of BD governance policy, processes and procedures, templates and metrics, plus associated training and communication, and embedding the way we work around here.
  • Development of overall integration and delivery model including programme shaping and initiation strategy, dashboards, tracking tools, and integrated controls to cover the entire portfolio of BD activities from idea to execution, aligned to existing processes and procedures within Urenco Group and in collaboration with Group Projects, Risks, Assurance and other functions.
  • Monitor compliance with policies and standards, establish and maintain a fit for purpose/fully compliant programme management methodologies and working practices. And Evidence that the programme and the projects are incorporating industry best practice in all phases.
  • Build the Governance and Control function within BD and coach and mentor staff and share knowledge of best practices. Support development of organization, succession planning and over BD function as we continue to grow.
  • Development of Due Diligence, M&A, audit and internal review tools to support ad hoc BD activities in a systematic way and as unique opportunities arise.
  • Managing outputs on risks, returns and final recommendations to the Board for review and consideration.

Challenges

  • Identify and secure relevant buy-in and cross-functional support from stakeholders to implement new ways of working and solidfy existing best practices.
  • Provide support to development and on-going continuous improvement for BD, UTD and Urenco overall.
  • Be part of a new Business Development Team, guiding new ways of working and approaches during a period with significant changes and opportunities.
  • Expanding portfolio means supporting the development and understanding of the geographical presence/capabilities/brand.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to Degree level a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. Project Management Qualification / Accreditation such as APM, or PMI desirable or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in a variety of nuclear industry professional and leadership roles, PMO, governance, programme execution and delivery.
  • Experience of developing existing relationships and building new ones from a diverse stakeholder base (finance, competition, advisory, customer, supply chain, government, regulators) within the nuclear industry
  • Leadership experience in cross-functional matrixed and geographically disparate teams
  • Experience of managing, integrating and cascading business priorities and plans.
  • Nuclear project management of special and complex projects – ability to lead in ambiguity and without clear precedents.
  • Bringing insights and external best practice to drive change, improve governance, and continuous learning.
