We are looking for a driven Thermalhydraulic Engineer to join an innovative and international team.

About the client

Our client designs and creates frontier technology for Molten Salt Reactors (MSR). They currently have a team of ~40 all working together to develop nuclear power solutions. They are in the development phase and aim to solidify their design through analyses, experiments, simulations, and partnerships.

The primary location of the role will be in Lyon.

Your mission

You will directly be involved in design and modelling of the core of the reactor. You will facilitate the decisions made in the design through simulation and analysis input. Your work would focus primarily on thermal hydraulic simulations, but you will be required to interface strongly with other disciplines such as neutronics, chemistry and mechanical and system engineers. You get the unique opportunity to develop your ideas, explore many sides of the business, and play a crucial role in the company’s growth.

Responsibilities

  • Work together with a larger team of technical engineers to progress the reactor design.
  • Simulate and analyse the reactor to validate and give input on the design.
  • Be pro-active in obtain information required from the team and have a minimal multi-disciplinary understanding.
  • Be able to conduct work independently but not on your won.
  • Report to the lead Thermal hydraulic Engineer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in physics or engineering or any relevant topic.
  • You have proven experience in engineering analysis.
  • You have a pragmatic and constructive mindset – you find ways to get things done even if they seem very challenging from the start.
  • You solve problems creatively and know when and how to involve other team members.
  • You are eager to learn and like a new challenge.
  • You understand the applicability and limitations of an analysis and are able to communicate the consequences of this to the relevant parties in a clear and concise manner.
  • You are an excellent communicator (clear is kind) in English, and preferably also French or Dutch, both spoken and written.
  • You like working in an agile manner and are comfortable at the fast-moving pace of a technological scale-up.
