We have a current opportunity for a BOP Electrical Engineer (SMR) on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Camden. For further information about this position please apply.

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design and analysis of safety and non-safety related electrical systems for the Small Modular Reactor (SMR). The position will regularly interface with the I&C, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and nuclear engineering teams for electrical design and consultation. The Electrical Engineer applies his or her knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.

Specific Area of Responsibility:

  • Develop system function and design requirement specifications
  • Develop one-line/three-line diagrams
  • Develop/Optimize Cable and Cable Tray Routing
  • Develop licensing requirements for electrical systems
  • Develop component specifications for individual system components such as batteries, transformers, breakers, switchgear, relaying, etc.
  • Interact with vendors to obtain vendor input/design confirmation of various components
  • Perform and support vendor selection and vetting process
  • Work with other work groups to provide electrical design support
  • Oversee any electrical work performed by other organizations

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • 0-5 years of demonstrated applicable experience in power generation (nuclear, fossil, etc.) electrical system design
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, ability to act independently, flexibility, adaptability and leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan and organize work tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong inter-personal skills; effective in a team environment.
  • Eligible to work in accord with Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
