About the Role

Thomas Thor is supporting an innovative advanced reactor developer in the search for a Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer to join its Licensing & Safety team. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development and licensing of a next-generation reactor technology, playing a key role in ensuring the design meets the highest nuclear safety and regulatory standards.

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will support the development of the reactor safety case, perform nuclear safety analyses, and contribute to licensing activities throughout the design, construction and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the nuclear safety case for advanced reactor designs.
  • Perform deterministic safety analyses, hazard assessments and accident sequence evaluations.
  • Define high-level nuclear safety requirements and ensure they are incorporated into the reactor design.
  • Collaborate with system, mechanical, thermal-hydraulic, neutronics and other engineering teams to support safety demonstrations.
  • Prepare technical reports, Safety Analysis Reports (PSAR/FSAR) and regulatory documentation.
  • Support interactions with nuclear regulators and contribute to licensing submissions.
  • Coordinate with external technical partners supporting safety analyses and licensing activities.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture across the organisation.

  • Experience preparing licensing documentation and technical safety reports.
  • Experience supporting advanced reactor or new build programmes is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Dutch (ANVS), Belgian (FANC) or French (ASNR) regulatory frameworks is desirable.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch or French would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

  • Join an innovative organisation developing advanced nuclear reactor technology.
  • Work on the licensing and safety case for a first-of-a-kind reactor programme.
  • Collaborate with highly experienced multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Contribute directly to the future of clean, low-carbon energy in Europe.
