For one of our clients based in the United Arab Emirates we are looking for a Contract Management Specialist (Change). This is a staff position.


Role description

To efficiently and effectively manage and control the contractual and commercial activities of the Prime Contract (and other Contracts) and in particular aspects as they relate to Chane of the Works associated with the design, engineering, licensing, procurement, construction and commissioning of the NPP power block facilities and/or supporting infrastructure facilities to ensure both commercial interests are secured and risk exposure is minimized.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Prime Contractor Oversight:

  • Develop, maintain and implement work processes and associated tools to support effective commercial administration of the Prime Contract.
  • Administer and negotiate Change to the Prime Contract effectively to ensure the continuous update is provided
  • Support the Prime Contract Management team to ensure the accountabilities and activities are performed in an effective manner.
  • Facilitate communication both internally and externally in order to build and nurture mutually beneficial working relationships.
  • Develop and maintain Prime Contract commercial management procedures and ensure integration with Prime Contract’s processes.

Change Management:

  • Minimize exposure to changes to Prime Contract by applying correct contractual provisions.
  • Negotiate and timely agreement of Changes in order to minimize conflict.
  • Ensure relevant internal procedures are adhered to.
  • Analyze and negotiate Changes with an element of supervision

Commercial Risk Management (Claims):

  • Ensure cost, time and risk issues are being commercially controlled.
  • Ensure commercial interests are best protected by minimizing potential for conflicts arising.
  • Ensure defense mechanisms are in place to minimize risk of claims and disputes being pursued by Contractor.

People Management:

  • Manage the effective achievement of organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and department performance.
  • Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination / sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Facilitate communication both internally and externally in order to build and nurture mutually beneficial working relationships.

Excellence & Quality Management:

  • Ensure commitment to culture of excellence and Quality Management by implementing best practices, complying with excellence requirements in terms of policies, procedures and systems, and exceeding stakeholders expectations.


  • Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environment management policies, procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, by delivery of the HSE Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service and a responsible environment attitude.


Essential skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
  • Chartered member of a recognized professional institution such as RICS, CIOB, or ICE.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following sectors: major civil engineering projects, power industry and oil & gas industry.


Desired skills

  • Further extended studies in Claims and Dispute resolution areas of expertise
  • Working towards or recently obtained a master’s degree in related subject
  • International power or nuclear program experience.
