Balance of Plant (BOP) Product Line Manager’s primary role is to establish, develop, coordinate, direct and grow the engineering services at the Canadian Nuclear service providers. Utilizing previous experience and coupled with market intelligence this position is responsible to establish Westinghouse Canada as a top tier supplier in Canada. The Product Line Manager will work with adjacent Westinghouse Canada division to define product/ services, pricing, positioning, and promotion strategies. The successful individual must be able to manage high complex, multiple projects, lead multi-disciplinary teams and continuously monitor progress with milestones and autonomy.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated Canadian business development marketing strategy for AE/ BOP services.
  • Balance and manage competing project constraints including scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risks. Ownership and management of various project complexities.
  • Establish and maintain a strong presence within the Canadian nuclear client base to drive opportunity growth across the WEC portfolio with a primary focus on balance of plant engineering services.
  • Act as business advocate responsible for generating consumer feedback, identifying growth opportunities, idea generation and communication back to the organization.
  • Identifies target markets and market penetration strategies.
  • Act as Customer Advocate; understand the aspects of a customer’s business which applies to Westinghouse service offerings by capturing and articulating market problems as they translate to engineering consulting services.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction and measuring product success by providing oversight of ongoing design project delivery.
  • Participates in industry associations to interact with the major suppliers in the industry; plans and attends tradeshows and events for the specific markets.
  • Regularly interacts with clients, product line manager, and WEC business development team in response to proposal initiatives and client business development
  • Responsible for the development of win strategies in response to internal and external Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), and proposal development including obtaining required approvals.
  • Coordinates proposal activities with adjacent Westinghouse divisions for pricing, schedule development, technical write ups and execution strategies.
  • Interfaces with other Product Lines, Engineering, Business Development, Operations Managers to ensure integrated strategies and effective cross-selling of WEC services and products
  • Stays current with industry changes and events and provides BOP input to Westinghouse initiatives
  • Determines methods and resources needed to achieve project goals and develops a detailed work (project) plan (when required) which includes definition scope, staffing and financial resource allocation, priorities, and target dates. Monitors progress and ensures timelines are met at major milestones.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a College Diploma or University Degree in related discipline. Nuclear engineering or equivalent mechanical systems experience.
  • Minimum 8+ years experience in design engineering environment and corresponding nuclear power engineering experience. Field experience a plus.
  • Experienced in managing engineering or EPC projects up to three million dollars
  • Professional engineer is preferred
  • Knowledgeable utility process, procedure, and governing regulations
  • Ability to respond with proposals on short notice and immediate assistance to Customers
  • Knowledgeable of SAP systems or equivalent programs a plus
  • Demonstrates nuclear industry Safety Culture practices and policies
  • Experienced in developing engineering work hour estimates, schedules, and corresponding pricing, risk management and contingency development. Demonstrated estimating and planning experience in outage management support scenarios
  • PMI CAPM or PMP Certification or other equivalent project management certification considered an asset.
  • Experience with MS Project or Primavera is an asset.
  • Market experience in Canada is a must
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong client facing skills and accountability.
  • Strategic thinking, market data analysis and interpretation, competitor analysis, consulting selling, customer insights, and strong customer relationships.
