Role description


As Chief Engineer you will provide strategic engineering leadership in the GDF programme and set engineering standards, across the organisation, as a high- profile engineering leader.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

You will be responsible for:

  • Key leadership in developing and establishing the RWM Design Authority function.
  • Building up a system of governance for all engineering activities.
  • Establishing a set of engineering codes and standards and to influence ONR in defining Relevant Good Practice for a GDF.
  • Being the main contact with the ONR and will jointly act with the Head of Nuclear Safety (for safety cases) as part of a senior team alongside the Head of Site Characterisation and Head of Environment and Sustainability in interactions with the Environment Agency and/or Natural Resources Wales (as appropriate) in this respect.
  • Lead the GDF Design Authority, including owning the technology readiness process, engineering strategy and processes that will meet regulatory expectations.
  • Performance Management, including measurement and improvement of RWM’s in-house Design Authority IC-engineering capabilities and through the supply chain.
  • Budget and Procurement Management as well as Risk Management


Essential skills

You will have significant engineering and leadership experience, running through feasibility, design phases and into operations, with a demonstrable history of leading on major and complex projects across a variety of highly regulated industries (ideally encompassing civil nuclear).
