Would you like to be engaging with communities as they explore the possibility of hosting a geological disposal facility (GDF) for the long-term management of radioactive waste on the UK’s largest environmental project?

Role description

Your focus will be upon developing strong and trusted local relationships with communities to help them engage with the GDF siting process, supporting them on their journey. You will be the conduit between RWM and community stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and lasting relationships.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

You will:

  • Execute approaches to local community engagement that attract and retain communities in the siting process.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships and resources to deliver community engagement activities.
  • Identify key stakeholders in regions and communities that can support the siting process as advocates and decision makers
  • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships at regional and local Government levels, and including business, industry, regulator and education organisations.

Essential skills

This is not a Monday to Friday, nine to five position. You’ll be travelling, attending meetings/events, delivering presentations and numerous activities in between. You’ll need to be resilient, diplomatic, and compassionate to effectively build trust in the local area.

Your qualifications are not the main focus. Instead, your understanding of how to manage community, social and environmental issues as well as politics are key.

RWM is growing. With an organisation that is to grow from 200 people to 400+ people over the next 4 years, your responsibilities will expand with it. As a result, this role offers you the opportunity to develop both your skill set and your career.

The money’s great. The base salary is competitive with an additional car allowance, annual bonus (up to 30-35%), 30 days of annual leave (with public holidays on top of that) and one of the most generous pensions currently available in the UK (Civil Service Alpha Pension Scheme).

Your life outside of work is important to RWM and so they welcome conversations about flexibility to help you meet both personal and professional commitments.
