For a well known client, the Canadian industry leader in development and construction of infrastructure, we are currently looking for a Construction Manager.

This is a permanent position to be based in Kincardine, Ontario.

Role description

The Construction Manager will direct and be accountable for all pre-execution planning activities to ensure all necessary construction packages have been readied and available for use. He/She will be responsible for all site execution matters, including direct-hire and subcontracted labour supervision, safe and timely performance of the work, and ensuring quality standards are upheld.

Responsibilities

As a Construction Manager, she/he will be expected to:

  • Prepare and staff a construction team made of experienced and capable supervisory personnel
  • Liaise with engineering staff to ensure integration of all tooling designs
  • Work with the Labour Relations Manager to ensure labour relations issues are pro-actively managed
  • Be responsible for all site execution matters, including the timely performance of the work
  • Be accountable for all site safety and human performance metrics, and for collaborating with the project EHS Manager & HU Manager
  • Be accountable for ensuring all project execution resources have received the required training
  • Identify succession plans for key individuals and implements necessary steps to train these individuals
  • Ensure work is performed within quality system requirements
  • Be involved in developing and ensuring compliance to staff training roster
  • Ensure verification of Supervisor qualifications
  • Perform observation and coaching duties in both Bruce Power and Contractor databases
  • Ensure a strong nuclear safety culture is reinforced continuously

Essential skills

  • We are looking for a candidate who is eligible to work in Canada, with native English communication skills
  • 15+ years of experience in construction management (field experience is a must)
  • Proven track record in complex and large construction projects (~ CA$200+ million)
  • Extensive knowledge of trades performed work, financial operations, estimating and employee relations
  • Requires proficient trades union relations management skills, and a solid understanding of union agreements applicable to work performed for our customer

Desired skills

  • Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred but candidates with a strong background in construction management in the Oil & Gas industry in Canada are also welcome
  • A valid Bruce Power security clearance is an asset

Rate/Salary

Salary of 180,000CA$ to 220,000CA$ per annum + benefits
