Role description

We are looking for a Construction Project Engineer (Piping) to join an extensive 20-year framework project known as PPP (Programme and Project Partners), with an estimated value of £6.5billion. The PPP model will revolutionise project delivery at Sellafield nuclear site and help deliver 17 major construction projects associated with developing the infrastructure required for the reprocessing and making safe of nuclear waste material, and ultimately support the transformation of Sellafield from a nuclear operator into a world leader in environmental remediation.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

As a Construction Project Engineer (piping) you’ll ensure the work packages are on time, exactly to specification and standards, and take responsibility for managing suppliers on a major project.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Take responsibility for defined ‘packages’ of work through the full construction work-cycle (from design/planning to site supervision to handover).
  • Co-ordinate construction reviews and produce work instructions, installation sequencing and method statement documentation.
  • Provide direction to design engineers to ensure that construction tasks are achieved.

Essential skills

This position will suit someone who has:

  • Knowledge and application of Pipework fabrication and construction methodologies
  • Discipline Construction Supervision experience
  • Experience and application of the Critical Task processes
  • In-depth knowledge and application of the requirements of UK/EU Laws and Regulations applicable to construction and engineering tasks.
  • Extensive experience of minimum safety documentation requirements including risk assessments, method statements COSHH assessments and specialized activities.

You will use your communication skills to assist subordinates in problem solving, to utilize decision-making latitude and prioritize activities in order to achieve objectives, as well as liaise with customers/stakeholders within area of construction scope.
