Are you an experienced Cost Engineer? Or perhaps you work within a cost control, finance or accounting role (that ideally has industrial project experience) and would be interested in moving into Cost Engineering?

We are looking for an individual to join an extensive 20-year framework project known as PPP (Programme and Project Partners). The PPP partnership is revolutionising project delivery at Sellafield nuclear site, helping to deliver 17 major construction projects associated with infrastructure for reprocessing and making safe of nuclear waste material.

Role description

What will you be doing?

First and foremost you’ll be part of a comprehensive Cost Engineering framework service which supports major projects, multi-project portfolios and business areas. As well as maintaining systems and resources to ensure the service is effective, you’ll also prepare, monitor and provide forecasts during project phases and the same again for expenditure profiles and accruals. You’ll report on Earned Value Analysis to identify critical areas and trends, recommending recovery options when needed, and of course many other duties associated with this area of work.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Provide and manage the cost framework, systems and resources to deliver an effective cost control and reporting service to Project Managers and Sponsors.
  • Prepare, monitor and forecast baselines during all project phases.
  • Prepare, monitor and forecast expenditure profiles and provide accruals where needed.
  • Prepare cost reports, including earned value analysis, identifying critical areas and trends and recommend recovery options.
  • Maintain the cost control database and validate data across systems.
  • Ensure all commitments are recorded and maintain forecasts within approved financial limits.
  • Maintain an estimate of the outturn value of the project and prepare the EAC for review and approval.
  • Provide the required information to support the risk process.
  • Provide project outturns against baseline for LFE and Knowledge Management.
  • Mentor and support Assistant Cost Engineers in their development.

Essential skills

Baseline Costs, knowledge management, EVA; experience of maintaining cost control databases and validating costs across projects are all sought. Again, this may not be in a nuclear setting but being able to demonstrate crossover is highly valued and project based experience is necessary.

All roles are offered upon a permanent basis and this case salary will go from around £35K up to £60/£65K, experience dependent. Holidays are offered at 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with a variety of benefits offered.

This is a Monday to Friday role and Warrington or Cumbria would be fine for an office location, with the conversation around mixed remote working currently taking place.

I’ve been within recruitment for over a decade covering fast paced contract recruitment, project recruitment and account management, within large scale business and niche consultancy environments, all within the nuclear industry. I am passionate about the point where company meets individual to ensure the best fit professionally, personally and culturally, and providing an excellent customer service sits at the core of everything I do and strive to deliver.
