The company’s technical profile has a majority of people at senior grade or above, a number of whom have been appointed as ‘Technical Authorities’ within the company. Role description

As Head of Projects, you will be a senior member of the Orano Projects Ltd organisation and will report into the Operations Director.

In this role you will supervise, and hold ultimate responsibility for the delivery and overall success of, a wide-range of projects. You will do this via your team of Project Managers, and be responsible for informing management on progress and performance.

In addition to these responsibilities you will liaise with the Head of Technical to ensure the correct assessment of project resourcing needs.

To perform this role effectively you will need to balance strong leadership skills with a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project performance
  • Monitor and report cost & schedule performance for the portfolio projects
  • Participate in project reviews
  • Participate in project resources allocation
  • Develop relationships with clients to increase the number of tasks and projects assigned
  • Direct and integrate the activities of multiple, major project operations; ensuring that project effortsare cohesive, consistent, and effective.
  • Develop and establish policies, strategies, and operating objectives consistent with those of the organisation to ensure efficient and effective implementation of projects
  • Manage project managers and Project Management Office (cost control, schedule and document control) staff
  • Deliver and manage bids
  • Act as liaison with Orano Projects France offices

Essential skills

  • Significant experience leading projects within the UK nuclear sector
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Demonstrable knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics

Desired skills

  • Experience within the UK decommissioning sector would be beneficial
  • As you will be liaising with the French side of the Orano business, some French language skills may be useful, but aren’t essential.
