Role description

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and implement new accounting and finance processes and drive harmonisation with accounting manual (for.e.g., IFRS 16, IAS16, IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRIC 12, IAS 38 and IFRS 10 policies and processes, etc.)
  • Apply finance operational expertise to drive process improvements, while developing/enhancing controls and reporting
  • Closely follow IFRS developments and determine the accounting impact on Co
  • Support in the review and analysis of new contracts in light of IFRS
  • Support in the preparation of technical memos on bespoke accounting matters upon review of contracts through documentation of detailed fact patterns and a robust qualitative and quantitative accounting assessment as well as prepare responses for consultation and provide advice on technical questions regarding IFRS related matters
  • Support with the implementation of new IFRS or updates to IFRS throughout the organisation by working closely with senior team members across business directorates, accounting, treasury, business performance and financial planning
  • Ensure that any proposed IFRS solutions fits the needs of the organisation in terms of quality, functionality and overall integrity
  • Support in the review of the chart of accounts in line with IFRS
  • Support in the preparation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis along with providing automated solutions to preparation of financial statements
  • Review and provide comments on IFRS financial statements that are subject to a specific review requirement
  • Perform a reconciliation of standalone sub-ledgers to general ledger; clear and reconcile unposted journals
  • Liaise with internal and external audit teams and clients regarding local regulator’s enforcement reviews
  • Ensure compliance with documented internal controls, maintain documented processes and verify appropriateness of identified risks and relevant controls to mitigate risks
  • Support in preparation of training material for IFRS Awareness sessions on new topics relevant to the business.
  • Support in complete and timely financial statements to company executives, shareholders, and the board

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Minimum of 5 years of extensive experience in /or related role, preferably in a:

  • Big 4 firms or accounting consulting firms
  • Diverse/multi-cultural business industry (obtained from medium to large organisation)
  • Multi-national company
  • Energy and utility sector
  • Requires strong writing, analytical, excel and power point presentation skills
