Role description

This selected candidate would have overall responsibility for implementing the NRC’s environmental protection regulations in Title 10, Part 51 which implements the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) through the issuance of a new Environmental Impact statement (EIS). This candidate would have the overall responsibility for developing and managing these efforts while engaging with and working with the NRC for such licensing activities. The successful candidate will be the project team representative for the environmental review to resolve questions and address concerns. This person will also provide comprehensive environmental support for initial siting and due diligence, environmental studies and assessments, environmental permitting strategies, developing and filing permit applications, and environmental compliance plan development and implementation. This person will provide expert regulatory and technical management support, and environmental permitting and project leadership to ensure the company’s compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing the planning, permitting, construction and operations of new generating facilities. This person will also serve as the liaison to federal, state, and local agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the US Wildlife Service.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:

  • Proven abilities in developing the Environmental Report leading to a final Environmental Impact Statement
  • Experience with NRC Part 51 (NEPA) environmental regulatory and licensing processes
  • Environmental Project management experience managing mega-projects from site preparation activities to operation
  • Proven leadership ability managing and employing sound judgement and decision-making skills;
  • Proven ability to represent the company and projects before regulatory agencies and in public forums
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills required to interact with regulators, public interests and project contractors

  • Disciplines Required: Engineering

Working Conditions:

  • Travel Up to 25%
  • Unescorted nuclear access required
