Our client, Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC), is now hiring for a Plant Lead Engineer.

Remote at first with eventual office location in Ottawa, ON.

Role description

The engineer will report to the engineering manager of the first demonstration plant that will be built at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) by Global First Power (GFP). The engineer’s accountabilities will evolve taking ownership of a single or more systems on the plant which fall within his/her field of competency.

Responsibilities

This work entails the development of all the required design documents from concept to detail design phase. The engineer will be accountable for the planning, design, and analysis of the system(s). This work would typically require the engineer to work with and manage multiple Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) both within USNC, GFP and external contractors.

Day to day work and responsibilities include:

  • develop and plan system(s) work packages;
  • development of design documents (specifications, diagrams, calculations reports, etc.);
  • review, correct and approve design documentation;
  • manage external contracts;
  • integrate within a multidisciplinary engineering team; and
  • manage all administrative requirements and, as necessary, coordinate with members of the technical staff and senior management.

Essential skills

  • A proven ability to develop power plant systems, in the nuclear industry or in another highly regulated industries
  • Experience in interdisciplinary engineering teams of 10+ people
  • University or College degree in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering;
  • P. Eng. with PEO or eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario designation or certification in a related area;
  • Proficient in CAD software; scheduling and planning software;
