About LLWR

The Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) has a proud past, a busy present and an exciting future. LLWR have managed the UK’s low level radioactive waste for more than 60 years and are now ready to play their part as a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). In 2009, 95% of low level waste was disposed of at the Repository. Today that figure is below 5%. LLWR has led the way in securing effective solutions for lower activity waste management, diverting material away from the site by utilising a range of treatment and alternative disposal routes.

LLWR has now launched the largest construction programme it has yet undertaken, the Repository Development Programme (RDP), to span 3 decades. Planning permission has been secured to allow the construction of a final cap over existing and new vaults and seven landfill-style trenches where waste was disposed of prior to the opening of the site’s first vault in 1988. Their top priority has always been safety – of their community, workforce and the environment – as reflected in their safety performance.

If you join the LLWR team you will find a positive and supportive environment where your physical and mental health are prioritised and an inclusive atmosphere, free from discrimination, is promoted, alongside a commitment to excellence.

Salary and Benefits

LLWR will be offering a competitive basic salary depending on your experience, a pension contribution up to 13.5% as well as an annual bonus based upon company performance and a further individual performance related bonus dependent on the level of your role.

Health and well-being are extremely important to LLWR and they believe in supporting both mental and physical wellbeing, offering private medical insurance which covers both out-patient and in-patient treatments.
