Protecting current and future generations is at the heart of Radioactive Waste Management’s (RWM) mission to deliver the UK’s first Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) and provide radioactive waste management solutions.

Role description

As a Procurement Assistant, you will support the RWM Commercial and procurement team to deliver commercial services required to deliver RWM’s programme, including the procurement of goods and services throughout the GDF siting process.


You will join a diverse organisation, and procure goods and services to maximise value for money, as well as:

  • Efficiently and accurately process and expedite purchase requisitions and purchase orders through the system.
  • Manage mini-competitions and direct awards from framework agreements.
  • Maintaining various departmental records including databases, procurement intranet pages plus coordinating tender activities and maintaining associated logs.
  • Gather data and information to respond to commercial reporting requests, including a variety of adhoc tasks.

You will have excellent attention to detail, and exceptional time management skills. You will have an advanced understanding of Microsoft products with the ability to learn and work with new processes and IT systems.

  • Experience of working within a procurement team.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to talk to both all levels of internal stakeholders and contractors.
