Protecting current and future generations is at the heart of Radioactive Waste Management’s (RWM) mission to deliver the UK’s first Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) and provide radioactive waste management solutions.


Role description

As a Procurement Specialist, you will manage end-to-end procurement projects that support RWM making good business decisions throughout the GDF siting process.


You will join a diverse organisation, and provide authoritative advice to the RWM business on strategic and operational commercial matters, as well as:

  • Manage a diverse range of end-to-end procurement projects from across all indirect categories to maximise value for money.
  • Primarily manage procurements under the OJEU Services threshold (~£180,000) with opportunities to support and collaborate on more complex projects.
  • Develop a pipeline of procurement work through proactive category analysis and business partnering with key customers and reactively picking up business needs.
  • Analyse spend and contract data to inform the strategy for procuring services, whilst applying commercial intelligence to find opportunities and solve problems for the business needs of RWM.

You will have excellent attention to detail and understanding how to run end-to-end procurement projects. You will have an advanced understanding of Microsoft products with the ability to learn and work with new processes and IT systems.

Essential skills

  • Excellent understanding of how to run end-to-end procurement projects.
  • Prioritising a challenging workload of competing priorities.
  • Previous experience of managing indirect procurement projects.
  • Experience working in a procurement team.
  • Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to present and discuss information professionally and extract information out of people.
