Role description

To direct activities of the radioactive waste management to ensure that ENEC has a sound radioactive waste management which includes low level waste management, intermediate and high level waste management and plant decommissioning trust fund for long term safe disposal of the waste aligned with UAE government waste management policy.

Responsibilities

Radioactive Waste Management Organization Formation

  • Oversee the formation of a RadWaste Management Organization

Policies and Procedures

  • Develop, maintain and communicate radioactive waste management ENEC policies, procedures and processes in order to ensure alignment within UAE radioactive waste management policy
  • Develop, maintain and communicate decommissioning trust fund related ENEC policies, procedures and processes in order to ensure alignment within UE nation decommissioning trust fund policy

Radioactive Waste Disposal Solutions

  • Manage / Design / Support low and intermediate level radioactive waste interim storage and disposal facilities and final disposal of high level waste including waste acceptance criteria
  • Develop and manage contract for final site design, construction and operation
  • Interact with FANR and other regulators regarding development of the UAE waste classification regulation, transportation regulation and any other radioactive waste issues including environmental study

Decommissioning Trust Fund Financial Model

  • Maintain DTF (Decommissioning Task Force) Financial Model and liaise the DTF Board on behalf of ENEC

Capacity Building

  • Develop and implement continued radioactive waste management training program in order to ensure knowledge transfer and sustained capability in the future

People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and department performance
  • Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission-critical activities

  • Facilitate communication, both internally and externally, in order to build and nurture mutually beneficial working relationships

HSE, Security & Continuity of Operation

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Division / Department / Section by delivery of the JSE Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service and a responsible environmental attitude
  • Follow all relevant security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and corporate assets
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission-critical activities

Essential skills

  • Minimum of 12 years of Radioactive Waste
  • Management & Plant Decommissioning experience with 2 to 4 years in a management role
  • Experience in performing financial analysis, business process analysis, economic forecasting and modeling International nuclear fuel contract management experience
  • Experience in dealing with nuclear and other regulatory agencies regarding contract management
