Do you have a proven track record of directing construction operations and construction programme delivery? Would you be interested in helping to deliver a bespoke major renovation and renewal project, integral to the Sellafield nuclear site operations?
Worth in excess of £700m for the first stage, and over £1 billion for the follow- on project, this is one aspect of a major programme of works being delivered over the next 20 years through the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) model, and you’ll be responsible for delivering the construction.
That will include everything from contract formation and administration, resource management, stakeholder management and appointment and management of sub contractors, to on-site activities to ensure the work is conducted within established safety, quality, schedule and cost standards.
You’ll have managed similar projects of this stature. You’ll possess great communication skills, be able to develop and motivate functional and dispersed teams, respond positively to new ideas and solutions, and other ways of doing things. Overarchingly, this is a mechanically biased role (vessels, tanks, pipework etc.) rather than civils, so your experience should reflect that and whilst this is a nuclear project, there’s recognition that experience from other highly regulated industries brings different perspectives and expertise which is welcomed. Commercially, this is being delivered under NEC bespoke targets, so again, experience within that framing is sought and of course you’ll deliver wider team objectives, business goals and plans by providing support, encouragement and clear direction to others.
This is a permanent, salaried position looking for commitment and offering stability and challenge in equal measures. The project is based at the heart of the civil nuclear industry in Whitehaven, Cumbria (a beautiful part of the Cumbrian coastline), with easy access to the Lake District, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a beautiful place to live and if you’re interested in relocation there is financial assistance to support this. There are also a number of other benefits on offer from bonus to healthcare, dental and option to buy more holidays alongside those as standard- great if you’re looking for more time to explore the area.
