On behalf of our international client, we are looking for an experienced C&I Engineer to deliver design packages to projects according to customer specifications and to provide engineering services to support site operations. This is a permanent role and can be based in the Netherlands or Germany.

Role description

A SENIOR ENGINEER (C&I) is responsible for the delivery of plant designs – meeting safety standards and license requirements. He/she will act on behalf of the Global Process Owner (engineering) on design and engineering matters ensuring alignment with Operational Sites.

He/She will also provide engineering services (design/specialist key/core engineering) to Group/Site projects: Interfacing with different stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements and site license conditions; Manages group design projects; Acts as customer towards suppliers; Supervises the detailed design development and manufacturing of Core Technology systems; and Acts as design authority and provides specialist support to Plant Design Authority (PDA).

Responsibilities

  • SAFETY CULTURE
    – promoting a pro-active safety culture and performing analysis to create “learning from experience behaviour”
  • DESIGN ENGINEERING
    – Reference Design for Core Facilities/Critical Systems
    – Oversight/delivery of Detail Design for Core Process Technology systems and Critical System designs
    – Maintain design, engineering and safety case analysis expertise
    -Monitor and analyze plants performance through review of operational plant data on core systems
    – Provide technical subject matter expertise for local site engineering
    – Review and approval of changes to plant design and safety case standards
  • DESIGN AUTHORITY
    – Establish, control, and maintain Group-wide design & engineering standards for core designs and safety case requirements applicable
    – Contribute to the Plant Design Authority (PDA) committee
    – Review designs of Core Plant Technology Facilities, Systems and components
    – Review changes to Plant Operations central engineering standards and any site exceptions/concessions
    – Act as delegated Design Authority
  • KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
    – Incorporate lessons learnt in design and engineering solutions (standards)
    – Responsible for exploring and investigating (global) market developments
    – Investigates methods, technology and manufacturing opportunities
    – Shares lessons learnt with Group peers
  • CONFIGURATION CONTROL
    – Contributes to maintaining plants Reference Design: complying with group common safety case and engineering standards
    – Ensure group engineering standards are updated
    – Establish, implement and maintain group-wide configuration control standards and requirements
  • LOCAL PROJECTS, MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS SUPPORT
    – Issue standard group designs, functional requirements, design requirements, safety case requirements, testing requirements, and/or performance requirements for enrichment operations core systems
    – Review site implementation and test results
    – Perform technical reviews and approvals of site design and safety case changes
    – Review site test results to confirm group requirements are met
  • SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT
    – Oversight of detail design of Core Technology suppliers
    – Act as Intelligent Customer
    – Execute the manufacturing and inspect/test plan (MITP) of Core Technology suppliers;
    – Manage the factory acceptance and final release
    – Manage the Contract execution with  suppliers
    – Manage deviations and concessions

Essential skills

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
  • Fluency in German and/or Dutch, and English
  • Experience in project management and/or specialism in Nuclear Science or a Professional Engineer license obtained by accredited examination in C&I
  • Demonstrable track record in successful project delivery involving Core Plant Technology in C&I
  • Min. 5 years experience in supplier management
  • High level of knowledge and problem-solving capabilities
  • Capability to regular travel within the EU, UK and US

 

Desired skills

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Nuclear Science or Advanced Technology (Chemistry, Process, Mechanical, Electrical or Control & Instrumentation)
  • Min. 8 years of design project lifecycle experience
  • Demonstrable leadership role in design management in C&I Engineering
