Thomas Thor has been assigned by an international nuclear engineering, project management and services contractor. This company is looking for a Senior Project Delivery Manager for a permanent position based in Bruce County, Ontario.

The company has been contracted to provide radiation protection services to Bruce Power’s Major Component Replacement project. As part of its scope the company will train, supply, and manage a large team of Radiation Protection Technicians. RPTs provide radiation protection assistance for workers, monitor radiation levels in work areas, and provide direct technical support to work teams.


Role description

To support the needs of this large project, the company recently opened a Radiological Protection Training Centre and Project Office in Tiverton, Ontario. The Senior Project Delivery Manager will have day-to-day responsibility for the safe and successful execution of the MCR RP Services contract.





  • Lead a team of 100+ people including managers, support staff and RPTs
  • Supervise team to maintain required standards of safety and quality
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders
  • Monitor and control project cost, resources and schedule in accordance with the contract
  • Assess and mitigate project risks and opportunities
  • Address project changes with the client
  • Ensure that all project work activities comply with local legislative and labour requirements, contract requirements, and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Participate in and direct operational meetings
  • Hire key team members to assist with delivery and project management
  • Report on project progress and performance
  • Develop and evolve internal procedures to continuously improve service delivery and project execution

Essential skills

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Experience running a long-term project and/or business unit with >$10M annual turnover
  • Track record of successful project delivery within the construction and/or nuclear industry
  • Demonstrable experience resourcing/supervising/managing large multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Exemplary client focus in determining, managing and meeting client expectations
  • Ability to influence others both in their team and outside area of immediate responsibility
  • Demonstrated process improvement capability
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and orally
  • Have and maintain a valid class G driver’s license

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of the principles of radiation protection
  • Knowledge of the Canadian nuclear industry
