Part of NWS’ mission is to deliver a Geological Disposal Facility and provide radioactive waste management solutions. The GDF will play an important role in resolving the long-outstanding environmental issue of how we safely dispose of legacy and future nuclear waste. It will be one of the most significant national infrastructure projects in the UK and will create investment and employment opportunities which will last for decades.

As a Planner or Senior Planner with Nuclear Waste Services, you will play a key role in one of the UK’s largest environmental projects to date. You will join a diverse team where you will use your NEC contract experience to develop schedules for the GDF programme. You will;

  • Develop, maintain, and amend schedules for complex projects and programmes, including facilitating workshops and leading progress review meetings.
  • Conduct analysis on plans to provide insight to Project & Programme Managers that will help to enhance delivery and improve decision-making on the management of dependencies and critical path.
  • Support the implementation of the overall planning and scheduling framework for the RWM portfolio.
  • Support the definition, development and maintenance of planning processes and tools to support effective scheduling and resource management & communication across the portfolio.
  • Support the execution of an effective means of monitoring and assuring the consistent use of the planning approach across the RWM portfolio.
  • Ensure programme plans provide sufficient data for performance reporting and produce effective summaries as necessary to communicate the schedule to senior management and the wider project team.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of Project Planning and Controls.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 Project Management scheduling software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office is necessary
  • You will be an excellent communicator – able to build strong working relationships and work collaboratively with wider stakeholders across all areas and levels of the organisation
  • Have strong analytic skills with the ability to interpret and generate complex data with the skills to be able to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders and different levels
