Role description

As Senior Quality Manager at Radioactive Waste Management you will provide authoritative quality management advice and assurance and deputise for the Quality Management Lead assisting then in tasks that include:

  • Setting and delivering RWM’s Quality strategy.
  • Developing RWM’s quality management team.
  • Provision of an effective integrated management system.
  • Ensuring functional assurance of quality standards.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Responsible for assisting the Quality Management Lead with the development, maintenance and continual improvement of RWM’s Integrated Management System to internal and externally benchmarked standards.
  • Support the Quality Management lead in setting Quality strategy to achieve RWM’s business mission and objectives.
  • Support the implementation of the quality management strategy and champion quality and process management across RWM.
  • Support the Quality Management Lead in transforming the Quality Management function into an effective, multi-skilled team with the capabilities to provide authoritative advice on quality management across RWM.
  • Support the development of a quality capability model and required training to ensure consistency of performance and encourage multi-skilling across the team.
  • Ensuring provision of functional assurance to the Senior Management Team that established quality standards are consistently being delivered across RWM and its supply chain.
  • Support the delivery of a process approach in RWM to ensure the effectiveness of RWM business processes.
  • Development and continual improvement of RWM’s management system documentation to improve efficiency, meet developing organisational requirements and appropriate internal, external and international standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring functional assurance to the Senior Management Team

Essential skills

  • Good first degree in an appropriate subject.
  • Chartered level membership of an appropriate professional institute (e.g. Chartered Quality Institute).
  • Significant experience of integrated management systems in highly regulated or high-hazard industries. Ideally with experience of quality management in the nuclear sector.
  • Significant experience in conducting internal and supplier audits.
  • Significant experience in supplier quality assurance.
  • Internal Management Systems Audit Skills to International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) Lead Assessor standard.
  • Significant experience in the use of quality improvement approaches and techniques.
