Role description

Technology Ownership:

Lead technology assessment exercises for the product line and assess the TRL for projects Act as the expert for the product line’s technology and provide advice to the Head of Research and Development and the wider organisation

Research and Development Portfolio:

Support the identification of new project opportunities for the specific product line Execute the planning, mobilisation and delivery of R&D projects, in line with agreed scope, time frames, budgets and service levels. Document and hand-over result of R&D projects to customer or other stakeholders Feed into wider R&D reporting, manage all project stakeholders and support wider stakeholder management for the product line

Key Account Management:

Act as the expert contact to SMEs on site-the ‘best-skilled’ expert in the Group for this product line Leverage a detailed understanding of the operation in the specialist area to identify improvement opportunities Perform technical assessments of projects and provide inputs to the product line Lead to facilitate project prioritisation

Capabilities & Knowledge:

Manage personal development as required to support R&D activities. Facilitate information exchange amongst SMEs in the Group Screen new external technological developments for their relevance and potential application for the respective product line

IP Management:

Consider, identify and capture IP that arises from any R&D activities undertaken

Financial Management:

Support the R&D budget process, providing inputs for respective projects Leadership: Provide guidance and support to team members in the product line

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Vocational qualifications:

Masters or equivalent degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, preferably PhD

Experience required:

  • Nuclear or Chemical Industry background,
  • thorough understanding of a safety and regulatory environment
  • Competent in structuring, budgeting, executing and reporting R&D and qualification programs
  • Experience of coordinating teams to deliver R&D projects across international boundaries
  • Expertise in selecting the right technology for major projects, to satisfy technical, commercial and customer requirements using a robust methodology
  • Experience in building R&D capabilities spanning people, processes and technology
  • Experience in building and fostering networks with partners in academia and industry
