For one of our clients in Belgium, we are currently looking for a Senior Thermal Hydraulics Engineer with nuclear industry experience and fluency in French or Dutch to join activities for multiple nuclear power plants in Belgium. This is an initial 1-year contract with possible extensions, to be based in Brussels.

Role description

Within the Nuclear Processes department of our client, the CFD & Thermalhydraulics team is in charge of the following disciplines:

  • Licensing Studies (SGTR, FWLB, etc) – SAR Chapters 15 and A.15;
  • Containment and Subcompartiment Thermalhydraulic analysis in an accidental situation;
  • PWR Plant Operation Support;
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics;
  • Analysis of plant behaviour (e.g. Natural Circulation, Complex Flow Analysis and Heat Transfer Phenomena).

Responsibilities

The Senior Thermohydraulic Engineer will be responsible for :

  • In charge of performing Thermohydraulic Licensing Studies;
  • Perform complex thermal hydraulic engineering analysis in the domain of nuclear reactor systems using industry-standard methods and simulation tools;
  • Defend your work to the Belgian Safety Authorities;
  • Write technical reports about the studies performed;
  • Work in a team of 15 engineers, in close interaction and collaboration with your colleagues.

Essential skills

  • Master in Engineering / Physics or equivalent;
  • Background in analysing Design Base Accidents (Class III and Class IV) and/or DEC;
  • Strong working experience with RELAP5 and/or TRACE
  • Experience and knowledge of international codes and standards;
  • At least basic knowledge of the Belgian NPP Fleet;
  • Ability to communicate (write/speak) in English and French or Dutch;
  • Interest in becoming a high-level expert in the domain of thermal hydraulics.
