Role description

This position will join The Replacement Analytical Project which is the replacement for a 60-year old facility within a repurposed existing facility. The Analytical Equipment Development Team are tasked with modifying COTS instrumentation to operate safely within a number of different nuclear environments. As Bundle Technical Lead you will be aligned to the technical team within the AEDT, playing a pivotal role to provide advice and assurance to the Contractor and Engineers.

Within your role you will spend time in design locations (mainly Warrington with travel to Cumbria) and you will also travel regularly to Instrument Modifier and Instrument Supplier locations.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Working with Instrument Suppliers you will be involved with:

  • The production of User Requirement Specifications and the updating of these.
  • Providing guidance and direction to the instrument modifiers in a collaborative manner.
  • Acting as interface between the clients Technical Authority and the instrument modifiers.
  • Developing test scopes for baseline instruments (pre-modification), prototypes and FATS on final modified instruments with the view to provide test schedules for non-active integration testing.
  • Assessing instrument designs, prototypes and final build instrument for analytical performance, future operation and EIM&T activities.

Essential skills

This position requires experience of working with analytical furnaces in gloveboxes and would suit either an analytical background or system engineering, whether modifications or having overseen delivery, within the nuclear sector or other similar highly regulated industries.
