Thomas Thor USA, in support of Longenecker & Associates, is currently seeking multiple Certified Safety Professionals to support their vision and strategy at the Sandia National Laboratory to lead their construction safety program. This is a permanent position to be based  Albuquerque, New Mexico

Role description

Certified Safety Professional will be primarily responsible to conduct independent safety compliance and activities for construction and service and maintenance activities of the project.


  1. Provide guidance and interpretations of 10 CFR 851, Federal, State, DOE and NTESS safety and health regulations and policies for implementation into the NTESS Safety Programs and Policies.
  2. Conduct safety inspections based on OSHA, DOE, and NTESS Standards, Orders, and Policies for construction and maintenance activities on NTESS-controlled premises.
  3. Establish and maintain required records and reports.
  4. Review and interpret hazard and exposure assessments.
  5. Review and comment on safety aspects of Subcontractor safety plans and provide construction safety-related training/coaching/mentoring to NTESS employees and Subcontractors based on Sandia’s 1065 specification, the Subcontractor safety program requirements, and guidance provided by the SDR and Sandia’s management.
  6. Provide technical support to the NTESS Construction Safety and Maintenance Programs by reviewing policies, technical work documents, safety plans, and conducting work observations to identify and evaluate hazards and recommend controls.

Essential skills

We are currently recruiting applicants that are legally entitled to work in the United States of America.

  • A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a degree in another applicable field deemed acceptable by the Sandia Delegated Representative (SDR).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • 4 years’ experience in the Department of Energy (DOE) safety and health industry or no degree and 8 years of experienced. Knowledge of DOE processes, procedures, and requirements.

Prior to starting her current role in August of 2019 Jaleesa was the College Recruiter for FirstEnergy Holding Company for more than 3 years. In this role she fully managed recruitment for the Co-Op/Intern College program for all of FirstEnergy with an average program size of 150 students per year. She was also responsible for program reporting and analytics and partnering with Colleges/Universities within FirstEnergy footprint to attract top and diverse talent. Since obtaining her Bachelor’s in Psychology degree from Case Western Reserve University Jaleesa has become a senior level results driven HR professional with 11 years focused experience in Strategic Talent Acquisition, Diversity & Inclusion, Employee Engagement and Talent Development initiatives. From supporting small-mid size international companies to regional large organizations employing 15,000-33,000 people, Jaleesa gained extensive knowledge in many aspects of the Human Resources field and recently obtain her SHRM Senior Certified Professional certification in July 2019 after also renewing her CDR (Certified Diversity Recruiter) designation. She is comfortable working with all levels of leadership from customer service reps and line supervisors to Sr. VPs and CIOs.
