CNL (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories) are hiring for an Occupational Safety and Health Manager. If you appreciate quiet and wild spaces, please note the position is to be permanently based in Chalk River, Ontario.

Role description

This is a great opportunity to supervise, develop and improve Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Industrial Hygiene (IH) standards, procedures, management and training tools, for a world leader in developing applications from nuclear technology.

  • You will oversee the development of OSH and IH standards, procedures and management tools to ensure effective program implementation;
  • You will develop training and communications materials through consultation with Training and Development;
  • You will work closely with business units to facilitate the tactical implementation OSH and IH programs;
  • You will support business line OSH and IH professionals to ensure a coordinated effort and appropriate response to incidents, injuries or near-misses in the field as necessary to support line management.

Essential skills

  • University Degree in Business or Health Administration or formal education in Occupational Safety and Health combined
    • with at least 5-7 years of experience in program development and project management
    • 3 years of field experience.
  • 10 years of OSH management experience.
  • Experience in leading and managing change or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Develop, implement OSH programs; evaluate the implementation of OSH programs
  • Advanced MS Office Skills for the development of program content, procedures, tools presentations and data manipulation and reporting in excel and from other databases.
  • Progressive experience in managing people and projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canada Labour Code and OHS Act and Regulations, as well the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
