Working in support of Longenecker & Associates, Thomas Thor USA is currently seeking multiple Quality Control Specialists at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This is a position to be based in Los Alamos, NM.

Role description

Longenecker & Associates (L&A) leverages more than 30 years of experience throughout the nuclear security and environmental remediation enterprise to improve mission performance, deliver capital asset projects on schedule and within budget, support all facets of high-hazard operations, implement effective governance approaches and develop targeted business strategies for both large and small businesses. L&A supports a combination of Federal and Commercial contracts at all major U.S. nuclear sites including Hanford, Savannah River, Idaho, Oak Ridge, Sandia, Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, Lawrence Berkeley, WIPP, Pantex, Nevada, Portsmouth and Paducah as well as locations within the UK and Canada.

Longenecker & Associates is seeking to provide the Los Alamos National Laboratory with a qualified subject matter individual to perform quality control inspections for the TA-55 Capital Construction Project Support.


Selected candidate(s) will be required to conduct inspections consistent with construction activities and comply with a qualification program for QC inspection personnel using industry standards and the various professional societies to ensure success for all inspections necessary to support construction activities.

A secondary responsibility is the verification of work activities compliance with governing work instruction documents, identification of work control issues and assisting in resolution verification.

Additionally, the selected candidate will ensure that:

• Daily reports provided to the Contractor management are accurate and timely

• Inspection reports are complete and accurate

• Activities are in conformance with plans and procedures

• Implementation of the non-conformance control process is effective

Essential skills

We are currently recruiting applicants that are legally entitled to work in the United States of America.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree with 6 years’ experience in quality control operations. In lieu of a degree 10 years of full-time versatile experience with 6 of those years in a quality control Lead or Management role will be considered.

Certifications and/or qualifications:

  • Qualified ASNT SNT-TC-1A minimum Level II for PT, MT, & LT, AWS
  • Certified Welding Inspector and capable to qualify to ANSI N45.2.6
  • Certification by the National Board of Pressure Vessel Inspectors is considered a plus.
  • Depth perception, color discrimination, binocular vision, reading vision, ability to speak, ability to discriminate speech, ability to hear in normal range (500 to 3000 hz), standing, walking, use stairs/ladders.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and work ethics including reliability as an independent worker and as a team Leader
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge as described in 1.1.1 above.
  • Experience in use of personal protective equipment.
  • Active Q Clearance or ability to obtain a Q Clearance

The Qualified Individual will have expertise and versatility in quality control methods and will include the following:

  • Non-Destructive Examination
  • Receipt, in-process and acceptance inspections
  • Weld inspections
  • Coating
  • Low alloy steel welding
  • Concrete placement and testing
  • Pressure vessel design and fabrication
  • Electrical component inspection
  • Control, use and calibration of measuring and test equipment, and
  • Pressure/He leak testing.
