We are supporting our partner, Moltex Energy in seeking a Head of Engineering to join their growing team in their efforts to contribute and respond to the world’s critical necessity of clean energy. They have the technology to transform the energy landscape, ushering in a new age of clean, low-cost energy for all.
The Head of Engineering will report to the Managing Director and work closely with the Head of Safety Case and other discipline leads to develop a fully substantiated engineering design for the SSR-U reactor.
This is an exciting opportunity to help develop a technology that can make a significant contribution to reducing global CO2 emissions. The design is progressing fast, and Moltex needs somebody who can hit the ground running!
Located in Birchwood, Warrington, Moltex offers the opportunity to provide engineering leadership and expertise to a diverse and growing team of engineering, safety case, and scientific professionals working in an agile project delivery environment. For those on board, it is going to be a demanding but rewarding journey.
Other benefits include:
The Head of Engineering will be responsible for leading the engineering design and substantiation to achieve the safety case requirements and help deliver the first-of-a-kind SSR-U by the end of the decade. Whilst the focus of this role is on mechanical/nuclear engineering, it will also require a good understanding of and contribution to other engineering and scientific disciplines.
Moltex’s approach to optimising the SSR-U is to develop the safety case and design in parallel, with one informing the other. This means that effective working with the Head of Safety Case will be paramount.
Initially the role will necessitate hands-on engineering involvement, working with the current team to finalise the concept design. Thereafter, the role will involve progressively growing the engineering team and processes to develop the detailed design.
The role will include leadership in the following areas:
Moltex is an equal opportunity employer. Moltex prides itself in having a team that promotes diversity, inclusion, leadership, mindfulness, high initiative, energy, and passion.
