As part of the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering team, you will help define the technical requirements and design parameters for our client’s modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) systems. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and manufacturing support of pressure vessels, reactor internals, supports, and related components in alignment with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section III, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines, and ASME NQA‑1 quality assurance requirements. You will contribute to engineering solutions that uphold the highest standards of nuclear safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, technical reports, and documentation for NSSS components, systems, and structures.
- Maintain and update CAD models using Siemens NX, ensuring drawings comply with ASME Y14 standards.
- Use BPVC Section III evaluation results to improve and optimize component design.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and participate in engineering change control processes.
- Review designs produced by internal and external groups to ensure cohesive system integration.
- Engage with manufacturing partners to communicate design intent and support fabrication considerations.
- Perform additional engineering duties as assigned to support NSSS program needs.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) from an ABET‑accredited institution; PE license strongly preferred.
- Siginificant relevant engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of design decisions.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Y14 engineering drawings.
- Experience with commercial nuclear component design or BPVC Section III is strongly preferred.
- Experience as an ASME Design Specification Certifying Engineer is preferred.
- Familiarity with stress analysis and design‑by‑analysis methodologies is valuable.
- Must meet eligibility requirements under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
