If you’re a SolidWorks expert who thrives on precision design, test hardware, and working where your models get built and tested, this onsite role puts your skills directly on the hardware.

What this role offers

Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time, 12-month contract – high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Salary Range: $37-74/hr

Responsibilities

  • Produce robust SolidWorks CAD models supporting fast-paced design evolution using advanced modeling techniques.

  • Develop and maintain highly complex mechanical designs; conduct trade studies and propose innovative solutions.

  • Create model configurations to support structural, thermal-hydraulic, neutronics, radiological, and safety analyses.

  • Create engineering drawings (layout, detail, interface control, general arrangement) per ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 standards.

  • Perform tolerance stack-up calculations.

  • Check and review drawings for accuracy and conformance to ASME and internal drafting standards via electronic redline process.

  • Maintain configuration control of models and drawings via product data management (PDM) software.

  • Document design progress, changes, and decisions in internal and external collaboration workspaces.

  • Contribute to written guidance and standards development for the design group.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 3+ years of relevant experience

  • 7+ years of SolidWorks CAD proficiency

  • Demonstrated experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5

  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)

  • Experience checking fabrication drawings

  • Experience with a product data management (PDM) system

  • Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001

  • Nuclear design experience preferred; strong candidates from aerospace, defense, or other high-consequence industries will be considered
