A growing nuclear engineering program is seeking an experienced Radiological Engineer to lead licensing analysis and defense for a pressurized light-water reactor design. This is a high-visibility role for a senior engineer who wants to work at the intersection of advanced reactor technology and NRC licensing – fully remote, with the autonomy to drive complex technical problems from analysis through defense.
What This Role Offers:
Location: Remote (Contiguous U.S.)
Full-Time, Remote, Contract – anticipated through June 2027, with high likelihood of extension based on performance/job needs
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Salary Range: $85-$100/hour

Responsibilities:

Perform engineering calculations and analysis using industry-standard methods and simulation tools (e.g., NRCDose, SCALE 6, RADTRAD, MCNP, ADVANTG) with little to no supervision

Develop resolutions to complex technical problems requiring creativity and innovation

Plan, organize, and perform complex engineering assignments; interpret project scope and requirements and develop alternatives

Exercise judgment within broadly defined policies to resolve complex licensing issues

Interact with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring cross-organizational coordination

Serve as principal customer contact on assigned projects

Present technical information on projects and schedules to stakeholders

Mentor and train junior engineers
Qualifications:
-
B.S. in Nuclear Engineering or Radiological Health Physics from an ABET-accredited program required; advanced degree preferred

Minimum 8 years of full-time, directly applicable experience in nuclear/radiological engineering or health physics

2-3 years of additional or concurrent experience in PWR or BWR license development and defense
-
Working knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements

Experience with radiological/nuclear analysis tools such as SCALE 6, RADTRAD, MCNP, ADVANTG, and NRCDose
-
Ability to travel nationally and locally as needed
