I&C Design Engineer

We are seeking a Contractor to provide Instrumentation & Control (I&C) engineering services for advanced nuclear reactor technologies. This role will involve system design, prototype development and testing, plant-level system integration, and commissioning. The position reports to the Non-Safety I&C Manager. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, both internal and external, contributing to cutting-edge Generation IV reactor technology. Depending on experience, the role may also include leading designs of I&C systems, structures, and components, as well as overseeing technical aspects of I&C suppliers.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the I&C Engineer for advanced nuclear reactor systems, including responsibility for instrumentation and control.

• Identify, specify, and integrate custom instrumentation with advanced control systems.

• Interface with internal and external engineering and scientific teams to ensure design integrity.

• Lead designs of I&C systems, structures, and components (depending on experience).

• Provide technical oversight of I&C suppliers and their scopes of work.

• Support system integration, prototype testing, and plant commissioning activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Ability to handle projects with multiple competing objectives and design constraints, and resolve conflicts between objectives.

• Familiarity with industrial process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) is desired.

• Experience with CAD software to deliver design deliverables (e.g., AutoCAD Standard, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks) is desired but not required.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
