We are currently seeking a Licensing Engineer to support a major nuclear new build project. The role will play a key part in developing and supporting the licensing strategy, advising project teams, and ensuring full compliance with national and international nuclear regulations and standards. Operating at the intersection of engineering, regulation, and stakeholder engagement, the Licensing Engineer will help embed licensing requirements into project decision-making and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and partly manage the issue and risk register related to licensing activities.
- Review project documentation and advise various workstreams (e.g., organisational development, technology selection, owner’s scope, site selection & permitting, information management, and security) from a licensing requirements perspective.
- Align with the Technical Support Organisation (TSO) on licensing-related topics and coordinate responses to licensing queries.
- Contribute to securing and embedding licensing knowledge within the project organisation.
- Support the preparation of content for meetings with the regulator, ensuring well-founded and consistent communication.
- Provide advice and interpretations of regulatory requirements to project stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining traceability of licensing commitments within project documentation and systems.
Within the licensing team, you will work closely with the workstream lead licensing, who is responsible for coordinating the work stream, aligning with the regulator and the development of the workstream and the licensing team.
Required Skills and Experience:
- University degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.
- Significant nuclear licensing experience, ideally within new build or large-scale nuclear projects.
- Broad knowledge of nuclear licensing processes in Europe, including familiarity with IAEA, WENRA, and EUR requirements.
- Proven understanding of stakeholder management with nuclear regulators.
- Experience working with licensing documentation and regulatory submissions.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch (or willingness to learn) is an advantage.
