Our client, a leading organization in the nuclear energy sector, is seeking a Senior Operations Training Instructor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical instruction and evaluations for Operations personnel and management at the client’s Nuclear Power Plant.

This position plays a key role in developing and administering regulatory exams, mentoring junior instructors, and ensuring compliance with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process and World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Training Development and Administration

  • Design, develop, deliver, implement, and evaluate operator training programs (Certified and Non-Certified) in accordance with SAT principles and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and deliver classroom, simulator, and on-the-job training sessions to ensure operators achieve and maintain qualification standards.

  • Develop and validate exams in compliance with Local Authority for Nuclear Regulation (Regulator) requirements.

  • Conduct written, simulator, and job performance evaluations while maintaining exam integrity.

  • Deliver training to key Operations personnel on operational procedures, nuclear technologies, and systems such as eSOMS.

  • Mentor and support entry-level instructors to enhance instructional quality and program consistency.

  1. Corrective Action Program (CAP)

  • Monitor assigned CAP actions to ensure timely completion.

  • Identify and report conditions adverse to quality to support ongoing improvement.

  1. Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support

  • Provide support during outages and ERO activities, which may include shift or off-hour work, ensuring safe and reliable operations.

  1. Health, Safety, Security, and Business Continuity

  • Take personal responsibility for safety by adhering to HSE policies and procedures.

  • Promote a proactive safety culture and report potential hazards.

  • Follow all relevant Security, Business Continuity, and Resilience procedures to safeguard personnel, assets, and critical operations.

  1. People Development

  • Support the professional development of national employees, in line with the client’s nationalization and capability-building objectives.

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and the development of local talent and expertise.

  1. Excellence and Quality Management

  • Drive continuous improvement through innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork.

  • Adhere to the client’s Quality Management System and Operations Fundamentals.

  • Promote a culture of operational excellence and accountability.

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School Certificate

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another scientific discipline

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant training experience, including at least 3 years in Nuclear Operations Training

  • Strong background in consulting, program management, and stakeholder engagement within the nuclear industry

Professional Certifications

  • Required: Must currently hold or have previously held a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) Certification or equivalent senior operator qualification from a recognized nuclear plant

  • Preferred: Senior Reactor Operator or Reactor Operator License from another nuclear facility
