Adding value and expertise to a growing global organization, also operating in Canada, our client, Moltex Energy, is currently looking for a Chief/Lead Chemical Engineer.  This is a permanent position based in New Brunswick, Canada.

Role description

As the Chief/Lead Chemical Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert and leader for the design of the chemical processing facility.  You will lead the development of the chemical separation process and the integration of the systems and components of the nuclear reprocessing facility.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to build on your leadership skills and lead a team of talented engineers and scientists to complete the facility design.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

With strong problem-solving skills and effective communication skills, you are the subject matter expert who is delivery focused and technically strong.  In addition, you will:

  • Develop the processes that are feasible in an industrial scale based on fundamental and applied research.
  • Establish design criteria for the processing facility based on regulatory and business requirements and integrate required technologies into the processing facility.
  • Develop system description and component specifications and define the interfaces between systems and components.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of the system or component designs that are delivered by in-house team and suppliers; identify research and development needs.
  • Perform hazard analysis to identify internal and external hazards of the facility.
  • Interact with engineering service companies, manufacturers, research teams, regulators, and stakeholders.

Essential skills

  • Advanced degree in chemical engineering or similar engineering disciplines.
  • 10 + years’ experience in chemical engineering or process engineering.
  • Experience in facility or process design.

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of radiochemistry or pyro chemistry, material, and corrosion.
  • Experience in applying industrial standards and codes.
  • Supplier management experience.
  • Master’s or higher degree in chemical engineering or similar engineering disciplines.
