Role description

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to procurement contingency planning in case of unexpected disruptions that may impact fuel procurement/distribution in close coordination with Integrated Planning
  • Coordinate with Integrated Planning to develop a common vision on long term fuel requirements by building different scenarios
  • Support in building the fuel demand forecasting model, ensuring appropriate consolidation of internally and externally sourced data to determine fuel requirements
  • Support in reviewing, amending and challenging fuel demand forecast models based on analysis of actual fuel consumption
  • Coordinate with SO and Transco to review fuel consumption levels in the short-term and the impact of these on future procurement volumes and accordingly update annual fuel requirements estimates and provide feedback and recommendations on fuel consumption
  • Develop monthly and annual fuel nominations and report on actual fuel usage against forecasts as per set DoA (work with Accounting and Financial Control and Financial Planning and Reporting on budget setting and requirements)
  • Manage Co’s effective procurement of fuel to ensure security of supply at least cost. This includes:
    • Drafting fuel supplier short-lists and establishing Co’s fuel Master Service Purchase Agreement in coordination with Contract Administration Management
    • Negotiating fuel procurement agreements and ensuring relevant information/documents are provided to Contract Administration Management
    • Developing a supply portfolio to ensure security of supply as well as mitigation plans to manage the variations of fuel demand for the sector
    • Negotiating short, medium and long term supply contracts
    • Overseeing and approving spot purchases in coordination with Fuel Manager and Commercial Director
    • Developing strategic working relationships with both regional and international gas suppliers
    • Review periodical (daily, weekly and/or monthly) pricing briefs prepared by the Fuel Analyst
    • Evaluate gas market intelligence and quantifying impact on Co’s Gas Procurement Strategy
    • Stay up-to-date on regulation change, customs disruptions etc. that may impact Co’s fuel procurement strategy in close coordination with Legal and Regulatory
    • Standard Responsibilities:

      • Implement all relevant department policies, processes, and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
      • Execute the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’ and changes in business environment, and leveraging insights. This includes supporting the related change management efforts
      • Adhere to Co’s values (including sustainability, integrity, collaboration and innovation)

      Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet the department requirements, policies and standards

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Engineering or related field

Minimum of 6 years of experience in Fuel Management or related role preferably in a:

  • Diverse/multi-cultural business industry (obtained from medium to large organisation)
  • Multi-national company
  • Energy and Utility sector
